Here’s what’s happening on Martha’s Vineyard today.

Cases drop There is good news on the COVID-19 front. There was a significant drop in positive test results, even as more and more people have access to at-home testing
kits. There have been 1,269 positive tests since the new year began. January accounts for nearly one-third of the cases since the pandemic began in March of 2020. Reporter Brian Dowd has the update.
No gun license for you A woman who was slow to report a gun missing won’t have her license to carry back any time soon. Catherine Tobin had her license to carry suspended after she reported the gun missing and police were unable to locate it. Now a judge has upheld the police department’s decision. Reporter Rich Saltzberg has the update. Meanwhile, in an unrelated court case, Joseph Noe’s murder trial was delayed until August. Noe is accused of killing Oak Bluffs firefighter Eric Voshell. Rich also has this story.

The MVTimes: Our reporting makes a difference
Journalism that matters, where you need it, when you need it. Want more?
Quote of the Day "The MSBA is saying ‘you are on the short list, and we want to fund your school, but we want to have confidence that this is not going to end up in a wrangling between the towns of who pays more and who pays less’."–Amy Houghton, MVRHS school committee member, on the need for the Island’s six towns to support a school building feasibility study
Hot Topic Comment Carla Cooper commented on the launch of Maura Healey’s campaign for governor. "Maura Healy has been an exemplary AG for Massachusetts. Her office was very responsive and helpful to me personally, and I’ve been impressed with her staunch defense of democracy against the fascist Trump
administration. What an improvement she would be from the weak governor we’ve had with Charlie Baker."
Hot Topic Letter Gilbert Lorenzoni wrote to seek help finding some missing keys. "After long months of hospital stay, these keys found again would certainly enhance the course of a long recuperating period."
Today: Marilyn Monroe and one of my mother’s favorite actors, Joseph Cotton, star in this Monday Night at the Movies film, "Niagara." It’s a murder mystery so I’d love it. Bring your mask to the M.V. Playhouse for this oldie-but-goodie. 6 pm. $5 cold, hard cash. –Connie Berry
This event is going to be of interest to a lot of us: Online Dining with Diabetes. I have family members who could really use this series of classes, and I could use some new meal planning ideas. 6:30 pm. –C.B.
Tomorrow:When I was a kid, tacos were made with ground beef and one of those flavor packets you find in the spice aisle. The taco shells broke apart on the first bite. Little House Cafe hosts Taco Tuesday, and these are not my mother’s
tacos. 4 to 7:30 pm. –C.B.
Roll with it "Large Oak Roll Top Desk Good condition with swivel chair. Asking $100. Must pick up. 508-237-8707."
