Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School will look for support from the Island’s six towns in submitting an application with the state agency that doles out money for construction projects. The high school is in need of work, but has been rejected over and over again by the Massachusetts School Building Authority over concerns about whether the Island is committed to spend its share on the project. Reporter Lucas Thors has the story.
Meanwhile, some high school students were outside the building Thursday in an attempt to rally support for principal Sara Dingledy. Reporter Eunki Seonwoo has this story.

The Martha’s Vineyard Commission is feeling the pinch from an increase in the number of legal challenges it's facing, particularly from a project in Edgartown that the commission rejected. Revenues are up for the commission, but so are expenses. Reporter Brian Dowd has the details of the commission’s budget discussion.

Changing suits There is a new court hearing the allegations by Danielle Clermont that the town conspired to keep her from becoming a Tisbury police officer. The case was dismissed in federal court because too much time had passed. Clermont’s attorney has now filed a new suit in Dukes County Superior Court with fewer defendants named, but many of the same allegations, including some from a Times article that are misquoted. Reporter Rich Saltzberg has the update.

This weekend: Join chef Katie Leaird for a monthly cooking series in collaboration with Slough Farm where parents and families can enjoy learning and experimenting with new recipes together. Leaird will work through the cookbook "My First Cookbook" and each class will feature a main course, side dish, and dessert. In-person at the Farm Institute from 10 to 11:30 am. Pathways Arts presents a two-person exhibition featuring early paintings by Washington Ledesma and a series of photographs, "Reflections here and Now," by Dena Porter. Many of Ledesma’s paintings have never been seen before, and Porter’s new body of work is inspired by the picturesque natural world of Martha’s Vineyard. From 11 am to 5 pm at the Chilmark Tavern. Are you a member of the Island recovery community? Head to the Red House Peer Recovery Support Center from 1 to 3 pm for board games and hot appetizers. It’s an opportunity to connect with friends and neighbors and receive support. I haven’t been keeping up on my superhero movies, but Spider-Man has always been one of my favorites. Now, Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch are back starring in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," at Edgartown Cinemas. The showing starts at 3:30 pm. Carolina Cooney, program coordinator for the Oak Bluffs library, brings another cooking class to hungry Islanders looking for a new recipe to try out. Check out Cooney’s video this week from 5 to 6 pm.
Rev. Rob Hardies wants to remind folks that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all the pain and angst right now, but it’s important to take small steps toward making the world a better place. This special Sunday service takes place from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Zoom via the Unitarian Universalist Society of Martha’s Vineyard. Sometimes it can feel impossible to heal from the grief caused by losing a loved one or facing another internal challenge. Hospice and Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard Presents "Making Meaning from
Grief," from 1 to 3 pm at the Howes House in West Tisbury. From 4 to 6 pm, Kayleigh Bollin's photography exhibit "Making the Invisible Visible" at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs will be available for viewing. Her exhibit brings awareness to mental health issues that communities like Martha’s Vineyard face. –L.T.

Berry-ed treasuresThat’s a play on our friend and colleague Connie Berry’s last name. Connie takes us to Second Treasures MV, which she describes as "like walking into a museum." The shop is owned by John Hill and is located within walking
distance of The Times office. (Hmmm, that might be where Connie is when she’s not behind her keyboard.) You can read more about the treasure trove here.
